Mayan Astronomy
Many ancient cultures through the history of the world have studied astronomy while marveling at the wonders of the sky. The Mayans are among the most prolific ancient people groups on historical record. The Mayan people excelled in architecture, mathematics, astronomy and even had their own written language. With their rich and expansive knowledge they were able to predict many astronomical phenomenons and develop an intricate calendar, complete with the moon phases, to illustrate and track the passages of time.
The Mayan people showed complex knowledge of the skies and the movements of constellations and heavenly bodies. The Mayan possess a unique relationship with the Sun and incorporated many of their architectural structures design with the Sun's movements, particular at its zenith during solstice.
